Introduction


Here at Mywebcare, one of our most popular frameworks we use to build a client website is Wordpress.


We do this since it is a very popular, well supported, open source script that enables content management for both us (as site managers) and end user clients where they may wish to post regularly to their website. Doing this will keep their site fresh and attract new visitors and better search engine results.

We have created this ‘how to guide’ to help explain how to update your website with a new post and utilise it’s features. A step by step guide can be seen below.


 



Quick Guide



  1. Log in to your Administration Panel (Dashboard).

  2. Click the ‘Posts’ tab.

  3. Click the ‘Add New’ sub-tab.

  4. Add content: enter your post title in the upper field, and enter your post body content in the main post editing box below it.

  5. Add a featured image.

  6. As needed, select a category.

  7. When you are ready, click Publish.


1.Log In to Admin


Use the URL provided to access your website login screen and enter your username and password. Your password can be changed once you have signed in.



 


2. Click Posts Tab


Once you have successfully signed in to your website, you will be presented with the admin dashboard. The main navigation can be found to the left hand side. Click ‘Posts’ to access the sub menu.



 


3. Click Add New Sub-Tab


The sub menu will present a number of options, to start creating a new post, simply select ‘Add New’ and you will be presented with the screen below.



4. Add Content


Now that you have successfully found your way to the ‘Add New Post‘ screen, you can enter your post title where indicated and write your post content in the area provided.



5. Add Featured Image


To ensure your post captures the attention of your visitors, be sure to add a featured image. You can select an image from your own files or previously uploaded images.



6. Select Category


Ensure visitors can easily find what they want to read by setting up categories. Before you publish your post, be sure to assign it to your chosen category.



 


7. Publish Post


Now that you have completed all the previous steps, the only thing remaining to do is publish you post for the world to see. Ready, Set....Publish.
